CERT
Community Emergency Response Team
Siesta Key residents and business employees can volunteer to be trained in community emergency response. The goal of CERT is to have volunteers trained in disaster survival and rescue. The purpose of CERT to have trained volunteers available in situations where first responders (emergency management, fire and sheriff's departments) have not arrived or unable to reach the disaster scene. The purpose is not to replace first responders but just to help the community impacted by a disaster until emergency personnel arrives. Training includes Search and Rescue, Triage and Fire Safety.
